Chapter FL1-K 2016 Couple of the Year

Gordon & Betty Currie

Betty and I have been married going on 64 years this coming October.  We have four children, seven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
We have been members in FL1-K since January 2008.  Gordon retired after 63 years in the Wholesale Electrical Supply business with 42 years as
outside Sales Representative calling on Electrical contractors, OEM, Municipality , Hospitals and Counties over the years.

Retired from the Army Florida National Guard after serving over 38 years as a Sergeant Major.  Serving 10 years as Mayor, City Commissioner,
for the City of Holly Hill and over fifteen elected and appointed boards in the two cities and county that he lived in.
Born  in Paterson, New Jersey and came to Florida in 1946 at the age of eleven.  Mainland High School Class of 1953.

Betty is a native of Volusia County and was born at the Halifax Hospital.
We first saw each other as she got on the school bus and I said to my self WOW.

That summer we both ended up working together on a summer job at a camera store.
I tell people we met in the dark room.  Betty stayed home and raised four children

over the years and is a great home maker with her garden and flowers and she gets all the credit for
us winning twice the City of Ormond Beach Chamber of Commerce Most Beautiful Home-Zone 4.

Over the years we had seven bikes.  The last three were Gold wings.
The trike was the best good looking and a lot of memories with our first Wing Ding in 2008.

We have  made a lot of friends over the years being a member of FL1-K and as the in-coming
Couple of the Year for 2017 we look forward to continue our visits to other chapters
representing FL1-K.  Betty and I have enjoyed all the outings and cruises that we have been on with you folks.
FUN FUN and FUN.
