2013 Chapter Couple of the Year – Ed & Jeanette Carr

Jeanette is a retired school teacher and Ed is a “Lifer” in the US Army. They joined GWRRA in 2002, after their purchase of a 2002 Gold Wing, and began enjoying Chapter life immediately. Ed & Jeanette held positions as Chapter Flag Coordinators, Ride Coordinators, Assistant Chapter Directors and Chapter Directors of Chapter FL1-H Daytona Beach. We were selected Chapter FL1-H Couple of the Year for 2005 and went on to participate in the Florida District Couple of the Year selection process and were selected Florida District Couple of the Year in 2005 as well. We were appointed Assistant District Directors in January 2007 and became Florida District Directors in September of 2007. After stepping down in September of 2009 we were able to visit most of the Chapters in Florida and are considered “Members” of many Chapters in Indiana (Jeanette’s home state) because of the visitations we’ve done in that District.

Our joined families include 5 children, 4 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.  Jeanette was raised in Indiana and lived in Louisiana before moving to Florida.  She enjoys gardening, needlepoint, sewing, and reading.  Ed grew up in the Philadelphia area and then traveled the world in the army.  Ed enjoys reading, country dancing, and computer research.  We both enjoy working out at the YMCA, football/baseball games, AND being with our GW friends and riding ANYWHERE!

In 2010 we bought a new 2009 Gold Wing, but kept our 2002 Illusion Blue with over a quarter million miles on it. A stint with FL1-H as Assistant Ride Coordinators and Webmasters ended with our being appointed Chapter Director of FL1-K Palm Coast/St Augustine. In March of 2011 we traded the 2009 on a 2012 Pearl Blue GL1800 and used it to travel all over New England, Mississippi, Arkansas, Louisiana & Texas this past summer. In December 2012 we were privileged to be recognized as FL1-K Palm Coast/St Augustine’s 2013 Couple of the Year. Jeanette & I are proud and honored to act as Ambassadors for Chapter FL1-K as we travel throughout GWRRA Chapters and events in Florida and Region A.
